The National Agency for Water and Forests (ANEF) and EUCAFOREST, a subsidiary of the Caisse de Dépôt et de Gestion (CDG) Group, signed a research and development collaboration agreement on March 7, 2025, aimed at strengthening innovation and excellence in forest plantations.
The official signing ceremony took place in the presence of Khalid Safir, Director General of CDG, and Abderrahim Houmy, Director General of ANEF. This agreement aligns fully with the “Forests of Morocco 2020-2030” Strategy, initiated under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, with the goal of modernizing forest management and preserving the Kingdom’s natural ecosystems.
The partnership’s primary objective is to optimize silvicultural practices to improve the performance of forest plantations in Morocco. It focuses on several key areas of innovation, including varietal selection, optimization of technical processes, enhancement of wood resources, and adaptation to climate change.
Through this collaboration, ANEF and EUCAFOREST will combine their expertise to develop tailored solutions for Morocco’s ecological specificities. This initiative is part of a comprehensive vision for sustainable forest management, contributing to ecosystem restoration, combating desertification, and strengthening forest resilience against climate challenges.
With this agreement, the CDG Group reaffirms its commitment to sustainable development and its role as a key partner in preserving Morocco’s natural capital. This initiative also highlights ANEF’s openness to institutional partnerships to promote sustainable and innovative forest management across the Kingdom.
By prioritizing research and innovation, this collaboration marks a major turning point in the modernization of forest plantations and establishes Morocco as a leader in sustainable and responsible management of natural resources.
