Morocco continues to capture the interest of British travelers. Starting March 30, Ryanair will launch a new direct flight route between Manchester and Rabat, offering two weekly flights on Wednesdays and Sundays. This development enhances access to the Moroccan capital and underscores the growing appeal of the country among UK tourists.
With this addition, Rabat joins the list of Moroccan cities already connected to Manchester by direct flights, alongside Tangier, Casablanca, Marrakech, and Agadir. The move comes at a time when British travel to Morocco is surging. In 2024, nearly half a million passengers flew from Manchester to Morocco, a significant jump from just 275,000 the previous year, according to airport statistics.
Stephen Turner, Commercial Director at Manchester Airport, highlighted this rising demand, emphasizing that Morocco has become an increasingly popular destination for travelers from northern England. “Rabat offers an unforgettable experience that passengers are sure to appreciate,” he stated.
The announcement has generated considerable buzz in the British press, with many outlets spotlighting Rabat’s unique attractions. The Sun described the city as a “hidden seaside gem,” praising its rich cultural heritage, including the Kasbah of the Udayas, the historic medina, the scenic Bouregreg River, and the iconic Hassan Tower, a landmark dating back to the 12th century.
Similarly, The Chester Standard lauded Rabat for its diverse appeal, citing its golden beaches, stunning architecture, refined cuisine, and captivating history. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2012, the Moroccan capital stands out for its authenticity, offering a quieter, more immersive experience compared to the country’s more tourist-heavy destinations.
