In a testament to the vitality of Morocco’s aviation sector, the country saw a remarkable increase in air traffic during the first half of 2024, with over 15.1 million passengers passing through its airports. This impressive figure represents a 19% growth compared to the same period in 2023, bolstered by the nation’s burgeoning tourism appeal.
The National Office of Airports (ONDA) highlighted that this growth was especially significant in the airports of Marrakech-Ménara, Agadir-Al Massira, and Rabat-Salé.
Marrakech-Ménara Airport welcomed 4.49 million passengers, marking a 29% increase from the first half of 2023. This surge underscores the city’s rising popularity among international tourists.
Agadir-Al Massira Airport saw a 34% rise in passenger numbers, reaching 1.47 million. This growth reflects the successful promotion of Agadir as a premier seaside destination.
Rabat-Salé Airport experienced a 40% increase, with 777,008 passengers. This significant rise highlights the growing importance of Morocco’s capital as an aviation hub.
Morocco’s continued efforts to enhance its tourism infrastructure and attractiveness are paying off, cementing its status as a top travel destination in North Africa and drawing an ever-growing number of global travelers.
