During the third edition of GITEX Africa, Morocco took a decisive step in its digital transformation. The Ministry of Digital Transition, Royal Air Maroc (RAM), and the Digital Development Agency (ADD) signed a strategic partnership agreement on Monday, aiming to establish Morocco as a continental leader in TravelTech—an emerging sector at the crossroads of technology, innovation, and mobility.
The agreement is built on three strategic pillars: promoting GITEX Africa with RAM as the event’s Official Carrier, supporting startups in travel and aviation, and accelerating the digital transformation of private sector players in the travel ecosystem.
In concrete terms, RAM will provide exclusive travel packages for GITEX Africa exhibitors and African startups. But the ambitions run deeper. The collaboration will launch a series of initiatives including the RAM Digital Open Innovation program, regional roadshows, a national “TravelTech Innovator” label, and targeted mentorship programs to nurture a new wave of TravelTech entrepreneurs.
“This strategic collaboration reflects our shared vision of using digital technology as a catalyst for economic growth,” said Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, Minister Delegate for Digital Transition. “By joining forces, we aim to make Morocco a key regional player in TravelTech.”
Royal Air Maroc sees this initiative as an essential part of its innovation roadmap. CEO Hamid Addou reaffirmed the airline’s commitment to supporting Moroccan and African startups in preparation for major upcoming events such as the Africa Cup of Nations and the 2030 FIFA World Cup. “This partnership is part of a broader vision to integrate digital tools and innovative thinking into our travel industry,” he stated.
The ADD, for its part, brings an inclusive and cross-sectoral approach. Its Director General, Mohamed Drissi Melyani, highlighted the project’s potential to connect talent, ideas, and innovation, calling it a “symbol of Morocco’s international openness and entrepreneurial ambition.”
Beyond startup support, the partnership outlines specific measures to fast-track the digitalization of travel companies. These include access to national digital platforms like “Moukawala Raqmya” and “Academia Raqmya,” as well as awareness workshops to boost digital literacy across the sector.
Anchored in the national Digital Morocco 2030 strategy and guided by the Royal Vision, this agreement reflects Morocco’s intent to become a driving force in Africa’s future travel ecosystem.
