Morocco wins first seat on VoxComm governing body

Morocco has taken a seat on the board of VoxComm, giving Africa its first representation on the organisation’s governing body. Hassan Rouissi, president of the Union of Communication Consulting Agencies (UACC), has joined the board alongside Gillian Rightford from South Africa.

The move brings two African representatives into the leadership of an organisation that brings together more than 35 national professional associations from four continents.

VoxComm represents advertising and communication agencies around the world. It gives national industry associations a platform to work together and address issues affecting the sector.

The new African representation gives agencies in Morocco and South Africa a direct role in international discussions on the advertising and communication industry. These include regulation, commercial communication, professional standards and ethics.

The appointment also creates new opportunities for cooperation between Moroccan agencies and organisations in other markets. It can support the exchange of knowledge, professional practices and industry standards.

The UACC represents communication and advertising agencies in Morocco. Its work includes promoting professional standards, supporting industry development and defending the interests of agencies.

VoxComm also works on wider issues facing the industry, including pitching practices, intellectual property, freedom of commercial speech and sustainable advertising.

The appointments of Rouissi and Rightford mark the first time that representatives from the African continent have joined the VoxComm board. The move means VoxComm now has representation across four continents, with more than 35 national professional associations in its network.
