Radisson Hotel Group wants to have 30 hotels in Morocco by 2030, up from its current portfolio, as the country prepares for the 2030 FIFA World Cup. The group plans to expand in cities including Rabat, Tangier, Agadir and Fès. It already has hotels in Casablanca and Marrakech.
Erwan Garnier, associate vice-president for development Africa at Radisson Hotel Group, said the group wants to offer different types of hotels depending on each city. These include business hotels, serviced residences and resorts.
“We want to develop the right product in the right place, with a long-term vision that goes beyond the 2030 World Cup,” Garnier said.
Radisson also plans to work with local property owners and investors. The group will look at converting existing properties and forming partnerships instead of relying only on new hotel projects.
The group has already developed or repositioned seven properties in Al Hoceima, Saïdia and Taghazout with Moroccan tourism investors. Radisson said these projects have created about 1,500 direct and indirect jobs.
Casablanca is also part of the expansion. Radisson has signed the Radisson Hotel Casablanca Gauthier La Citadelle, which will be its first premium property in the city.
The group is also developing the Radisson Blu Hotel & Apartments and Radisson RED Casablanca Finance City in Casa-Anfa. The two-property project represents an estimated investment of 850m dirhams and is expected to be completed towards the end of 2028.
The hotel group expects cities such as Rabat and Tangier to attract business travellers, regional visitors and international tourists beyond the 2030 World Cup.
The group’s target comes as tourist numbers continue to rise. Nearly 20m tourists visited the country in 2025, putting the national target of 26m visitors a year by 2030 within reach.
Radisson currently has more than 1,640 hotels either operating or under development across more than 100 countries. Its brands include Radisson Collection, art’otel, Radisson Blu, Radisson, Radisson RED, Park Plaza and Park Inn by Radisson.
The group also aims to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. Its hotels are gradually undergoing verification under the Hotel Sustainability Basics programme.
