Sanlam Maroc Rebrands as SanlamAllianz After Allianz Deal

Insurance customers will continue to use their existing policies as normal after Sanlam Maroc changed its name to SanlamAllianz Maroc, following its combination with Allianz Maroc on 2 July 2026. The company said customers would see no changes to their contracts, coverage, claims procedures or prices. Their usual contacts would remain the same, and they would not need to take any action.

The combined business is now the country’s fourth-largest insurer, with more than 8 billion dirhams in annual gross written premiums and about 14% of the overall insurance market. It is also the leading provider of non-life insurance, which includes motor, property and other cover, with a 23% market share.

SanlamAllianz Maroc has 750 general insurance agents across the country, the largest such network in the country, as well as partner brokers. The network serves individuals, professionals and businesses.

Yahia Chraibi, managing director of SanlamAllianz Maroc, said the new brand would bring together the expertise, teams and distribution networks of both companies to improve customer access, responsiveness and service quality.

The company plans to gradually update its products and customer services, using the combined experience and resources of both businesses. It also aims to develop new solutions for policyholders and distribution partners while honouring all existing contracts and maintaining current services.

The rebranding is part of a wider joint venture between Sanlam, a South African financial services group with operations across Africa, and Allianz, a German-based global insurance group. The partnership brings together more than 240 years of combined experience and aims to combine Sanlam’s knowledge of African markets with Allianz’s international insurance expertise.

Sanlam’s presence in the country dates back to its 2018 acquisition of a controlling stake in Saham Group’s insurance business. Saham Assurance was renamed Sanlam Maroc in 2021. Allianz expanded its presence in the country in 2016 by acquiring Zurich Insurance Morocco.
