Marjane Group is doubling down on its commitment to boosting Moroccan-made goods by significantly increasing the presence of local products in its stores—Marjane, Marjane Market, and Marjane City. This strategic move is designed to promote the competitiveness and quality of Moroccan brands while fostering a more dynamic and sustainable local economy.
Between 2022 and 2024, the company expanded its inventory of locally-produced goods by 50%, bringing the total to 3,247 items. Additionally, the number of national suppliers grew by over 32%. These efforts have had a noticeable impact across several product categories, with local goods holding 59% of the market share in food products, 70% in textiles, and 57% in luggage. The aim is clear: make Moroccan products more visible and accessible to drive consumer adoption.
A key aspect of Marjane’s initiative is its support for local cooperatives, in partnership with the Agricultural Development Agency (ADA). A dedicated team works closely with these cooperatives to help them optimize production and increase their presence in stores. This collaboration has yielded impressive results, with a 55% increase in partner cooperatives and a 56% rise in the number of locally-sourced products. The surge in artisanal and regional goods has been particularly well-received, contributing to a 48% boost in the group’s revenue during this period.
Marjane’s drive to showcase local production extends across multiple sectors, including food, textiles, home furnishings, cleaning products, personal care, school supplies, and household appliances. This broad product range caters to customers who prioritize quality, variety, and affordability.
By championing Moroccan brands, Marjane is fostering innovation and competitiveness within the national market. This approach opens new market opportunities for local businesses and strengthens their long-term growth.
Focusing on locally-produced goods isn’t just about economic growth—it’s also about environmental impact. By reducing the need for imported goods and their associated transportation, Marjane helps lower carbon emissions. This initiative is part of the company’s broader commitment to social responsibility and sustainable consumption.
Through public awareness efforts, Marjane Group emphasizes the benefits of buying local. Every purchase of a Moroccan-made product supports an ecosystem of artisans, engineers, manufacturers, and retailers. This not only strengthens local industries but also drives sustainable and innovative production practices.
By aligning with the “Made in Morocco” movement, Marjane Group reaffirms its role as a key player in the national economy. The company’s strategy supports local brands, promotes job creation, and encourages a shift toward more responsible and eco-friendly consumption.
