New competition puts Moroccan tourism startups in the global spotlight

Morocco is giving a major boost to its tourism sector by launching a nationwide competition aimed at spotlighting innovative startups. Spearheaded by UN Tourism in partnership with the Moroccan Ministry of Tourism and the Moroccan Society for Tourism Engineering (SMIT), this initiative seeks to uncover and support fresh, forward-thinking projects across three key areas: digital transformation of tourism services, the creation of leisure games and immersive experiences, and the promotion of local culinary heritage.

The contest is designed not just to encourage creativity within Morocco’s borders, but also to help winning startups break into the global market. Winners will be granted access to a structured network of international mentors and strategic partners supported by UN Tourism—offering them visibility, guidance, and potential pathways to scale their ventures beyond the domestic sphere.

Applications are now open and will be accepted until January 31, 2026, through the official online platform.
