The Ministry of Health on Wednesday called on all citizens to remain vigilant and to strictly comply with precautionary measures to avoid any “epidemiological relapse”, which could mean “getting back to square one”, particularly after the progressive lifting of health lockdown measures linked to the Covid-19 pandemic.
To avoid any deterioration of the epidemiological situation in the country, especially after the appearance of new and more contagious variants, the ministry calls on, in a press release, all citizens to be cautious and to strictly comply with preventive measures, including the correct wearing of masks, respect for social distancing and hygiene rules and the avoidance of unnecessary gatherings.
As part of the national epidemiological watch system, the ministry reports a significant increase in COVID-19 cases, critical cases and deaths in the past two days, adding that this increase is due to the relaxation and non-compliance with preventive measures and barrier gestures, especially after the gradual lifting of the night
curfew, and following the start of the summer holidays and the opening of borders.
The ministry underlines that this gradual lifting of lockdown measures does not mean the end of the pandemic and the return of life to its normal course, insisting in this regard on the involvement of everyone with a sense of responsibility and patriotism to curb the spread of Covid-19 in order to achieve collective immunity and enhance the gains made so far, particularly after the positive results recorded by the national COVID-19 vaccination campaign, which benefited 1/3 of the population.
