Morocco is a “reliable and solid” partner of the European Union (EU) in the management of migratory flows, underlines the European Border and Coast Guard Agency (FRONTEX), deeming cooperation with the Kingdom as “excellent”.

“Morocco is deploying and has made enormous efforts in terms of migration management,” Frontex Executive Director Fabrice Leggeri said in an interview with “Europa Press”, published on Sunday.

The reliability of Rabat is reflectd by the fact that the migratory route of the western Mediterranean “is under control”, said Leggeri.

“We have more or less the same level of arrivals as last year, which shows that the Moroccan authorities have strengthened their management of departures from Morocco and have taken measures to combat criminal activities linked to human trafficking”, he underlined.

This is the result of the “fruitful collaboration” of the Moroccan authorities with their European counterparts within the framework of the management of migratory flows, said FRONTEX Executive Director.

Morocco, which is “very active” in its collaboration with Frontex and the EU, as well as with Spain, “deploys efforts on a daily base on the ground”, added Mr. Leggeri.
